Miniature Coffin Shadow Boxes:

The Plague $50 (plus $11 shipping) SOLD

This 6" wood coffin depicts the 1665 plague of London.

The coffin opens and closes showing the Plague Doctor's supplies. On the outside of the coffin is the familiar red painted cross that was the symbol that the occupants of the house had contracted the plague. The official notice has also been plastered on the door. The poor doctor! It was very common for the men treating the plague (not real doctors, but men appointed to take care of the sick during this time) to end up dying from it themselves.

Inside the coffin we see the doctor's plague mask, various herbs, straw and a bottle of laudanum to stuff into the beak to filter the bad air. There is his bowl of leeches, (one is sneeking away!), his fleam, a current city list of the dead, a mortar and pestle, a drawer from his herb chest, a basin filled with filthy cloths and more notices for the Dr to post, a book on the plague and of course a rat which was responsible for spreading the plague. A staff or walking stick was used to poke the sick to see if they were dead yet and at the same time protected the doctor from having to get too close to the patient!

Not suitable for children, not a toy.
Suitable for 1:12 doll scale.

Body Parts  $50 (plus $11 shipping)

This coffin box houses the collection of a very odd man. He collected body parts of the dead (and soon to be deceased). We see an eye ball in a glass dome beside a human heart under glass. There is also a human skull and a strange sharp tooth in specimen jars too.

A basin with what appears to be a liver, cloth and bloodied water sits below. The tools of his trade are on the right side including a shovel (to dig up specimens), a knife, a bloody saw and a hammer (for the ones that weren't dead yet). A set of keys hangs on the wall beside them.

A gross collection of pictures decorates the walls; teeth, guts, eyes, yuck!

Not suitable for children, not a toy.
suitable for 1:12 scale.

The Laboratory of Dr. Digby  $65  (plus $11 shipping) SOLD

This 6" miniature coffin belongs to a Dr. Digby, a mad scientist who has a taste for the unusual! In his lab we can see a strange concoction cooking over a candle and dripping into a violet glass container beside a spool of wire. A row of dangerous chemicals sit on the next shelf. A bottle of hydrochloric acid sits on the bottom shelf - perhaps used to dissolve his victim's bodies with?! as well as a vial or black crystals.

On the opposite side are a couple of flasks containing chemicals, a stack of books with a skull candle on top, and a tea cup. In the middle is a set of test tubes - pretty dirty for a lab - and a small bottle of lithium. Beneath is a bottle of lye and some mercury in a round bottom flask.
Once you enter this lab you may never come out!

Not a toy. Not suitable for children.
